Open Source Software

Open Source Software Offers Greater Flexibility.

Some of the most useful and powerful software that exists today is Open Source Software (OSS). OSS is software for which the source code is freely available. Having the source code to software allows for ability to make modifications to that software.

One of the most famous examples of OSS is the Linux operating system. Linux was started as a hobby project by Linus Torvalds in the early 1990's. IBM, probably one of the most conservative businesses in the world, made the choice to mothball it's billion-dollar "AIX" operating system in favor of Linux. Now, even Microsoft is threatened by the Linux operating system (although they probably wouldn't admit it).

Other examples of wonderful OSS software include:

  • Apache Web Server Software
  • SugarCRM
  • Samba SMB/CIFS Protocol Implementation
  • Asterisk and FreeSWITCH Telephony/PBX Software
  • Drupal, Joomla and Wordpress CMS
  • OSCommerce and Zen Cart E-Commerce
  • Perl, PHP, Python, and Java Programming Languages
  • phpBB Message Board Software
  • OpenVPN Virtual Private Nework Software
  • OFBiz Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System
  • Firefox Web Browser
  • Thunderbird Email Client
  • Open Office Productivity Software
  • MySQL and PostgreSQL Databases
  • GIMP Image Editing Software
  • CRE Loaded and Magento E-Commerce
  • Dovecot, Postfix Email Servers
  • Wireshark Network Protocol Analyzer
  • rsync Backup Software
  • KnowledgeTree Document Management
We can make the power of open source work for you, while simultaneously reducing your expenses and solving software problems that you didn't think were possible to solve.
